bullet  General Notes:

Ivy Langley, our mum, born in 1922. Her mother Minnie died when mum was about 5 years old, so mum and her sister Audrey along with their father William lived with Lucy (mum's gran) in Nottingham for some time. They then moved with their dad to Birmingham. Mum told us that sometimes she and Audrey with their father used to walk from Hednesford to Lichfield, she said she used to get sore feet! Hednesford is where her father was born and his family were mainly in that area in the late 1800's, and most of the men worked in the mining industry (coal) around the Cannock area. Mum remembers that her dads family kept pigs near their terraced house in Hazelslade, which is on the edge of Cannock Chase, the houses no longer there now. Mum went to Mosely art college, she was a talented artist, and after we had all grown up and flown the nest she again took up her art work. Her paintings were of flowers, birds, landscapes, some nice pencil drawings of old buildings such as The Shambles in York.

Mum was a dignified lady, hardly ever losing her temper and never swearing, she was patient and hard working.

Sadly her marriage to dad broke down in 1969.
